A prolific actor who was 14 when he appeared in his first film, Magimel has starred in a variety of roles in French cinema. For a number of years, he lived with French actress Juliette Binoche, with whom he co-starred in 1999's Children of the Century and later had a daughter, Hannah, born in 1999. The relationship ended in 2003. The Cinema of France comprises the art of film and creative movies made within the nation of France or by French filmmakers abroad. France is the birthplace of cinema and was responsible for many of its early significant contributions. Several important cinematic movements, including the Nouvelle Vague, began in the country. It is noted for having a particularly strong film industry, due in part to protections afforded by the French government.
